Woman goes to get mail, returns with bird
There are a few, like, really weird things that have happened to me in life. Yesterday, one of those things happened. I'm Sophie, and this is Foxfire's story for geobeats. When I was on my way back from the mailbox, one of my neighbors was sprinting towards me across the front yard. And she's like, we need you to come over here right now. When I saw him, this, like, perfect rainbow parrot, I was like, what is this bird doing out here? Clearly, it's not from here. This bird
flew onto my shoulder. He immediately just hopped on my shoulder, and he didn't leave. And they were like, can you take him? We don't know what to do. Yeah. And I just walk into the house. He still hadn't left my shoulder. I was afraid he was gonna fly away, and he didn't. So cute. And he has not left the house since. It's been several months now. He's very affectionate.
He loves to preen. He. He preens me. He preens my husband. We did try to find the owner. Where'd you come from? This is like a thousand dollar bird. I assumed somebody was, like, heartbroken and looking for him. I went to all the national parrot registries. There's two of them. Made these postings and searched for anyone who'd been looking for him. The pet stores, like, we canvassed the whole entire region, but nobody was looking for him. So he's here now.
Our neighbor said that she had seen him flying around three weeks before, at least. So I don't know how many weeks he was out there, but it's tr. Truly amazing that he survived because these woods are so full of predators and. Yeah, I just feel like he's so little and stands out so much. I'm shocked that he made it. I think he's just a little warrior. He didn't seem like he wanted to go in a cage, so we didn't put him in one. We've just had him flying around the house freely the whole time he's lived here.
I had put a little bedding in there, and naturally, as it started getting dark, he would tuck himself in and he would just stay there and go bed. So that's where he sleeps now. It's already a disservice that we have them in the house, that they can't be free. So I just want to give him the best life ever.
In every single room, he has a designated little area for him to perch and play with, toys and stuff. The whole house is his. I made Foxfire this little swing perch. He's part of the family. For movie night, we'll pop him like his own personal plain popcorn with no butter or salt or anything like that. Then we just sit down and watch together. I'm so happy. Yeah, we're talking about you. Anything you want to say? Hip, hip, hip, hip. He always wants to be close to us. Or at least, like, wherever the action is happening, he wants to be part of it. We're all part of the same flock. That's him in a nutshell. Morning, Foxfire. How are you today? How'd you sleep last night?
Someone obviously owned this bird and got rid of this bird, and I still don't know why. He's perfect.
